The Non-ferrous labourer must be able to properly identify and sort non-ferrous metals. Applies knowledge of non-ferrous metals to properly identify materials when interacting with customers. Prepares non-ferrous materials for transport. Both indoor and outdoor, fast-paced setting.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Must be able to sort, process, grade non-ferrous materials
  • Inspects material for hazardous waste and grades different types of non-ferrous materials
  • Loads and unloads non-ferrous material
  • Must be able to work safely at all times
  • Be able to effectively perform tasks independently
  • Performs routine housekeeping.
  • Observes and reports any safety issues
  • Other duties may be assigned

  • 1+ year of hands-on non-ferrous metal experience
  • Understand and be able to grade all non-ferrous material properly
  • Metal recycling industry experience
  • Experience stripping equipment and/or with manual material sorting
  • Knowledge of non-ferrous processing
  • High school diploma (Or GED)
  • Well-articulated and assertive
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors, maintenance personnel and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Mechanically inclined an asset
  • Computer literate
